let's make our city as functional as it is beautiful

Common Sense for the Common Good

I'm a practical person and I believe in practical solutions to the problems we face as a city. I believe in a reliable transit system and affordable housing through sensible growth. I believe community involvement is the most effective way to combat crime. I also believe our elected leaders should stop wasting time and tax dollars on resolutions that don't directly address our local issues. Finally, I believe there's no reason why San Francisco can't be the 'greenest' city in the country.

I am a parent and a homeowner, and I've lived in District 5 for nearly 40 years. I am not a career politician. I'm just a citizen who wants to see an accountable and functioning City Hall.

Join me and together we can address the following issues:

Housing: The housing policies of San Francisco over the past 30 years have led to a housing affordability crisis by under-building residential housing in a major way. As a result, the middleclass resident has been forced out of the market and often forced to leave the City. I will work to make housing more affordable for everyone.

Education: We are responsible for educating our children and grandchildren. Quality education that maximizes the lifetime opportunity for all our citizens is a must. I will work to ensure that each of our children gets a quality education. I also support JROTC programs in our high schools because I believe our 55,000 students should have the right to choose.

Crime: From violent felonies to quality-of-life misdemeanors, crime is a serious issue in San Francisco. I will work to unite the communities involved with the Police Department, the District Attorney, the judges, and the probation department to significantly reduce all crimes. I also support Community Justice Courts because I believe they are effective in dealing with misdemeanors, leaving more resources to fully address felonies.

Transit: Our municipal transit system is largely dysfunctional for commuters and inefficient for non-commuters. I will work to improve our transit system for all users.

Sewers: Every year, San Francisco discharges vast amounts of untreated wastewater into the San Francisco Bay. I will work to stop this degradation of our common environment.

Environment: I believe that San Francisco can and must lead the country in minimizing our residents' impact on the environment for the benefit of our children and grandchildren.

Business: San Francisco needs to develop policies that are friendly to all businesses, large and small. Thriving businesses provide employment, tax revenue, and opportunity for all citizens. We need to nurture and support our business community.

Special Issues: I believe we should reevaluate the community impact of the recycling center in Golden Gate Park; provide much better maintenance of our roads, parks, and other municipal facilities; and foster more quality developments like the one at 690 Stanyan Street.

I respectfully ask for your support.
